The Small Business Confidence Index produced by Momentum Intelligence for FY2018 Quarter 3 came in at a reading of 36 points (out of a possible plus or minus 100 points).
This figure shows that there is a positive outlook among Australia’s SME owners and operators, however this final result is much less when looking at past readings from the quarterly index.
With an initial reading of 52 points, this index has been on a downward slope since its initial survey in September 2016.
This decline can be seen in the sentiment of business revenue, which has fallen from its reading of 51 last quarter to 48 this quarter.
Profitability has also fallen in the same period from 42 from quarter 2 to 39 in quarter 3, as well as capital investment 26 to 19 in the same period.
Cash flow however, has improved in quarter 3 with a reading of 37, marginally higher than quarter 2’s reading of 36.
